The Safe AI Adoption Model (SAAM) was built on a simple idea: safe, responsible AI shouldn’t be out of reach for Australian SMEs. 

That mission hasn’t changed. But the work is now reaching a much broader audience.

The National AI Centre (NAIC) has launched ai.gov.au, bringing together practical guidance and resources to help Australian businesses adopt and use AI safely and responsibly. SAAM’s content has been incorporated into the platform, giving the work developed through the initiative a broader national reach.

For businesses, that means a clearer place to find practical guidance, with resources aligned to Australia’s National AI Plan. It also means the work delivered by the SAAM consortium can continue to be used by businesses navigating the opportunities and challenges that come with AI adoption – and there is plenty to build on.

The SAAM consortium delivered its milestones across research, insights and practical guidance, with that work contributing directly to the content now available through ai.gov.au.

None of it happened alone.

As one of four AI Adopt Centres funded by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources, SAAM was a collective effort. Ctrl was proud to lead the consortium and would like to thank our Consortium Partners – UTS Human Technology Institute, ACS, Atlassian, KPMG, Microsoft and TDC Global, with the support of our Advisory Committee and every Australian SME who shared their experiences throughout the initiative.

For Ctrl, leading the consortium also gave us the opportunity to bring a perspective that matters when it comes to AI adoption: real, on-the-ground experience helping clients get their privacy, data, AI and cyber governance right sized. That’s the lens we brought to SAAM, and it’s the same lens we apply when supporting our clients with adopting AI today.

We’re proud of what we built together through SAAM, and we’re pleased to see that work continue through a national platform.

Because helping Australian organisations adopt AI safely isn’t something that stops with a program. It’s work that continues with our clients every day.
